About this activity
There is SO much to be learnt from animals, and so much to learn about animals, that when you visit a place like Denver Zoo, kids will really come back with some invaluable insights into the world!
Denver Zoo has over 4,000 animals that represent over 750 species from all around the world. You don't even have to get on a plane to discover the wonders of African, or the magic of Asia - really, the animal world has come to YOU!
Denver Zoo has weird and wonderful mammals, reptiles, fish, birds, and even plants that can show you how diverse our planet really is. Kids can come face to face with their favorites, and even meet some creatures they had no idea existed!
Have you ever seen a Malayan Tapir before, or heard of a Capybara? The zoo is also dedicated to wildlife conservation, so when kids meet creatures such as teh ASian Elephant or the Western Lowland gorilla, they can really understand why we need to look after our beautiful wildlife!
There are adorable Aye-Aye's to meet, and Harbor Seals to watch. From the common warthog, to the grand South African Lion and the Siberian Tiger, kids can see creatures of all sizes, shapes and colors.
You might even spot some babies too!
Denver Zoo has daily feedings and showtimes, which are great for the kids to learn even more about the animals. They can watch the llamas and penguins being fed, or watch the elephant demonstrations. You can even learn what it takes behind the scenes to really work with lions and wild dogs!

Denver Zoo FAQ’s
Conservation is at the heart of what the zoo strives for, and they support over 600 projects both in the wild and in the zoo to protect animals and their ecosystems
They have family restrooms across the zoo where mothers can nurse in private
From food trucks to dippin dots, popcorn, a smokehouse and a cafe, there is PLENTY to eat at the zoo! If you love BBQ - it's definitely your day!
There are FREE days across the year, so why not take advantage - they love to give everyone a chance to visit the zoo!
There are a number of places to pick up apparel toys, gifts and more!
Group discounts are available for over 20 people, and they also have guided tours for school groups - just give them a call!
They have family restrooms across the zoo where mothers can nurse in private
There are healthy options such as salads and sandwiches in the Samburu Grille.
The zoo is accessible and wheelchairs are available for rent
Zoo Lights run from early December to early January, and there is a different admission and opening time (9:30am - 5pm). For the rest of the year, the grounds close 60 minutes after the gates shut. Train and carousel has a small additional admission
