For a truly special family day out in one of Florida's most beautiful locations. We're talking about Curry Hammock State Park! Here's a fun fact, kids. Did you know that Curry Hammock State Park is the largest uninhabited area of land between Key Largo and Big Pine Key. This are also happens to protect largest areas of various ecosystems within the state, including mangrove swamps, rockland hammocks and seagrass beds. All of these are essential to the ecosystem in the are!

What's also lovely about Curry Hammock State Park is that the shallow, protected waters create the perfect place for the family to kayak, or paddleboard. There are beautiful mangrove creeks surrounding you, as well as 1,200 miles of pristine coastline to enjoy!

If there's a wind, the oceanfront is a popular place for windsurfers and kiteboards.

Year round, the park offers plenty of opportunities for birding. Shallow fishing is also available from both the ocean as well as the bay sides of the park.

Love hiking? Great! There is a moderately difficult 1.5 mile trail through the bayside hammock of the park.

Did we mention there is a campsite too, with 28 sites right along the waterfront.

With a host of Ranger-led activities too, Curry Hammock State Park is nature at it's most beautiful!

The park is located along both sides of U.S. 1 starting at Little Crawl Key, Mile Marker 56.2, 11 miles west of Long Key. The entrance to the facilities is on the ocean side of U.S. 1.

Curry Hammock State Park FAQ’s

Why not take a picnic! The picnic area is located on the southeast end of the park and has 4 pavilions, each with a barbecue grill and 4 picnic tables. The pavilions can be reserved for a fee.

Check out the playground in the picnic area for the kids!

Pets are not allowed on beaches, in picnic shelters, or in the bathhouses. In the areas where pets are allowed, they must be on a six-foot, hand-held leash and be well-behaved at all times
