Ready to explore the beautiful ecosystems of Mississippi and the South? The Crosby Arboretum is where families can go and enjoy, appreciate and learn all about their environment. Here, they preserve, protect and display plants that are native to the Pearl River Drainage Basin ecosystem. This in turn means they offer scientific, cultural and recreational programs, all so you can learn about this beautiful part of the world!
The Crosby Arboretum has on display three basic habitats which are found within the super special ecosystem. These are the Savanna exhibit, as well as a Woodland exhibit, and finally an Aquatic exhibit. (After all, nature doesn't just thrive above ground!)
Kids can see the dramatic and drastic, yet subtle landscape patterns within each!
To experience the aboretum, you will embark on a peaceful, walking journey. Take a stroll around the pond, and discover the diversity of life in the wetlands.
There are interpretive signs along your way, so kids can read all about what they are seeing all around them.
In addition to the 104 acre interpretive site, the Crosby Aboretum also maintains 700 acres of off-site natural areas which they study, so their work is never done!
Kids can really learn about nature, and because of the extensive research and study, the staff there will be happy to answer any questions children have, fuelling their interest in what makes the planet tick!
Don't miss a stop at the visitor center too, where there's information on native plants, as well as upcoming arboretum programs and events.
Have fun kids, Mother Nature sure is wonderful!
