About this activity

The Catalina Island Museum celebrates just that - Santa Catalina Island! The exhibits explore the island's rich cultural history and heritage through artifacts from and about Santa Catalina Island. These collections showcase the unique history, with highlights being the award-winning exhibit featuring the romantic era of Catalina's steamships (including boat models & sport fishing items) as well as Native American history.

The museum also features a large and comprehensive collection of Catalina pottery and tile, which was actually manufactured on the island from 1927 to 1937.

Also throughout the museum you can explore over 10,000 photographs and negatives that document island life from the early 1880s, right through to present day.

Did you know that the museum is also the repository for all archaeological digs on the island, and also has one of the largest collections of Tongva and Gabrielino artifacts in the world?

Catalina Island Museum also has a number of rotating exhibits that cover even more history and themes, so you can always go back and plan your next visit around something new to discover!

Step into the history of South Catalina Island, where you never know just what you might uncover!
