Chicago has some AMAZING parks and beaches, so why not visit a park that combines both for your next family day out? Burnham Park is 600 acres of beautiful park where families can have that classic day out under the sun.
Burnham Park is located with on the lakefront of the Windy City, and features a number of things to do - perfect for those active kids!
Did you know that the park dates back from the mid-1890's when the famous architect Daniel H. Burnham began sketching it? Just as well, because now it's filled with fun activities and spaces for the kids to play, and enjoy nature!
In addition to all of the space that you can play and run around, Burnham Park features the McCormick Bird Sanctuary which is a great place for kids to learn about wildlife. There is also the Cornell Oasis Community Garden for those green thumbs in the family, where there are vegetable garden plots as well as large woodland areas with native wildflowers.
Feel free to take a stroll through the woods too! There are birds and butterflies that will fly around you, and great for kids to learn where food comes from!
For those who want to get out onto that famous lake, there is a harbor where you can launch your own boat. A great idea to take advantage of that great body of water!
Those active kids will love the three playgrounds that can be found within the park too, where they can climb, hide, slide and crawl until their heart's content. Burnham Park also features a skatepark for those keen boarders!
