Buffalo Park is one of the most popular parks within Flagstaff, and with a very cool geological fact too - did you know that this expanse of open space likes on top of the McMillan Mesa? This means it's actually lying on an ancient lava flow - pretty cool!
The park is super fun to just hang out in, enjoy the sun, and get active, and within this incredible piece of the great outdoors, you will find some popular trails to explore!
Nate Avery Trail is the most popular urban trail within Flagstaff, and takes you on a 2 mile loop around Buffalo Park. Most of the trail is on native grassland, but there are areas where you can explore a cool wooded ravine.
Here, you can see an incredible panorama of the mountains, the Dry Lake Hills, and even the San Francisco Peaks!
There are elements of the trail that are easy, so it's ideal for the whole family. if you want to challenge yourself, there are some elements that are quite steep, so you can make it as relaxing or as adventurous as you like!

Majority of the trails are easy access, and there are paved roads around the trails
Dogs can use the trail, but must be kept on a leash
