About this activity

Choo Choo!  Where would we be without trains?  The foundations of America expanded with the invention of the steam engine, and now you can witness this important part of history with your very eyes!

The building that is now the Arkansas Railroad Museum, was once the Cotton Belt Shops where they used to build steam engines.  Within the museum, they have the 819 Locomotive.  This locomotive was the very LAST engine to ever be built in the very room you will be standing in!

There is also over 70,000 square feet of historic space, with 17 tracks, and display rooms to show you all the part of your transpiration ride through history.

The museum hold tours all year round, of the beautiful resorted passenger cars, cabooses and baggage cars.  There are also lots of fascinating artefacts that used to actually be used back in the day!

What do you think it would have been like to have been a train conductor back in the day?  It wouldn't be like what you're used to now!  Can you imagine those big plumes of steam chugging out of the top as you travel across the country?  It would have been an incredible sight!

Keep an eye out for the trains shows too, that they hold throughout the year.  At a small cost you can enjoy not only a show, but a sale!

There are tons of stalls and train loving fans with all their memorabilia and gadgets waiting to have a chat!  There are even hourly door prizes - sounds fun!
