There is a wealth of history in Arkansas, so why not explore one key aspect of it at the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources?

Situated in the midst of the historic sixty square mile Smackover Oil Field, and one mile south of the oil rich town of Smackover, The Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources represents all of Arkansas's natural resources, AND  is also dedicated to the pioneers of south Arkansas's oil and brine industries.

Whilst the oil fields of the state no longer play a leading role in the nation's destiny, at the museum you can learn all about the events surrounding the oil boom, with a focus on the dreams of the nation on south Arkansas.

Kids can learn about the industries prior to the discovery of oil in 1921, and how timber and cotton were the economic future through the 25,000 sq ft exhibit center,, and education center.

Also at the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources is a Woodland Walk, and a Tinkering Studio for those little ones, where blinking lights, rolling marbles, flying machines and contraptions are there to be enjoyed!
