About this activity

It's time to explore the history and maritime culture of Annapolis at the Annapolis Maritime Museum, and we better get started because there is a LOT to explore! With around 10,000 objects, photos and documents in the museum, it really offers an insight into the fascinating maritime past of the region.

They museum offers FREE guided tours during operating hours, or you can make your own way around the exhibits, and discover and learn at your own pace.

Kids can get an "oyster eye" view of the animals that call the oyster reef home in their 850 gallon Chesapeake aquarium, and even learn about oyster harvesting and packing via interactive touch screens.

Explore what animals live in Back Creek with the pull up "Chesapeake habitats" that hang from the piers, and talk to experts about how the museum's authentic oyster processing equipment was used.

Have you ever wanted to learn how boats work? Check out Miss Lonesome, who has cutaway sections to show just that!

Of course, the location of the Annapolis Maritime Museum is amazing, so take some time to enjoy one of the only public beaches in Annapolis, and enjoy some of the best views in town!
