About this activity

Kids, do you know who Amelia Earhart is?

Well, if you don't, the best thing you can do is take a visit to the Amelia Earhart Birthplace Museum and learn all about this amazing woman!

You see, Amelia Earhart is one of the most celebrated aviators in the world. She is also incredibly inspirational to women, and young girls who can realize they can achieve anything if they want!

Now, at this museum, you can see where she was born and grew up. Dating back to 1861, the building is historic in itself, and is also listed as a National Historic Site - which makes it even more special!

Amelia Earhart lived in many cities across her life, but she considered Atchison her tome town, which means that experience is the closest remaining link to this amazing woman.

It's also a great way to step back in time, and see what life was like over 100 years ago. You can visit the Front parlor, or the Sun Room where the family would have had breakfast. You can even visit the origional kitchen, which is one of the oldest parts of the house.

Some of the artifacts and furnishings are actually originals of the family, and Amelia, so you can really connect with her story when you visit.

So why not take a step back through the history books, and give your kids a day out to be inspired by, and perhaps one day they will have a museum about them too!
