Located on the beautiful campus of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum houses one of the most diverse Lincoln and Civil War collections in the country.
If you love delving into those history books, then this will be a treat!
The Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum is filled with more than 35,000 artifacts, transcripts, rare books and photos that you can see in person - with your own eyes. These fascinating collections fill three permanent exhibit galleries, as well as vaults and reading rooms.
Just imagine - some these artifacts even were held by Abraham Lincoln himself!
Kids can see Lincoln's ebony walking stick in person - just imagine if it could talk, the stories it would tell!
You can imagine what his family life would have been when you see his family's tea set, used in their Springfield home.
At the museum you can also see the ONLY photograph of Lincoln's father - Thomas Lincoln. Why do you think there was only one photograph? Can you guess?
The collection houses a lock of Lincoln's hair, as well as decorations from his coffin, and even original Civil War firearms, swords and uniforms.
Also from the Civil War era are pieces of sheet music, pamplets, and art work.
When we said it's a fascinating collection, we weren't kidding! There is so much history housed in this Tennessee attraction, history can't help but come to life all around you.
A fitting tribute to an influential president. You never know how the kids might be inspired!
