Everyone will always remember where they were on September 11th, but for the next generation of children it will be an event before their lifetime, so what better way to let them understand what happened on the exact spot that it actually happened - at the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
The 9/11 Memorial Museum is located on the site of the World Trade Centers, and over the few hours you will spend there, there are a number of exhibits and sites to look at.
The Main Exhibitions feature the historical exhibition, the memorial exhibition, and the Foundation Hall.
The historical exhibitions are split up into three sections: the day of 9/11, pre-9/11 and post-9/11. These exhibits tell the story of what happened on this fateful day, including the events not only at the WTC but at the Pentagon and Flight 93.
The memorial exhibition at the 9/11 Memorial Museum commemorates the lives that were lost. It's an interesting talking point for the family where they can realize that the event affected real people, with names and faces. Better suited for the older kids who can understand the history.
Last, there is the Foundation Hall which is a huge room which houses actual parts of the World Trade Centers
The 9/11 Memorial Museum also have film features that cover subjects of the attack, and how it changed the world.
A moving and interesting experience, recommended for children over 10 years but the more mature younger ones might find it interesting and a great learning experience.
