About this activity

The White Pass & Yukon Route Railway is known as the "Scenic Railway of the World" and when you see where it will take you, you will know why!

The railway was built in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush, so it's an amazing historical attraction where kids can learn all about the gold rush past.

The White Pass & Yukon Route Railway is a narrow gauge railroad,  and fun fact - is an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark - the same award given to the Panama Canal, the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty! Pretty impressive!

There are a number of tours that you can do from Whitehorse. The most popular is the one day Whitehorse to Skagway (in Alaska - so don't forget your passports!). You will board a coach at the White Pass Depot where you will travel along to Fraser in British Columbia. (An amazing journey in itself!)

Then, it's here you will connect to this famous narrow gauge. The scenery is incredible along your 28 mile rail trip, as you descend over the White Pass Summit into Alaska. Make sure you have your camera because it's a trip you won't ever want to forget!

Imagine how difficult it must have been for the workers to create such an railroad on the sides of the mountains and often THROUGH the mountains!

Then in Skagway, you get a two hour lunch, shop, stroll, and back to Whitehorse on a motor coach.

The perfect family day out in some of the most incredible scenery in the world!

There are a host of tour options, so just have a look and pick one that's right for you!

Enjoy your journey!
