Shearwater Aviation Museum acquires, conserves and interprets Candanian Forces personnell for the education and enjoyment to the public. There are tens of thousands artifacts from across the country from people who has assoication with the air based at Dartmouth and includes uniforms, tools, photos and lots more.
There is a huge aircraft collection which represents the history of Shearwater. These iclude the Fairey Firely, Hawker Hurrican, Beechcraft and lots more. There's also several large scale models representeding a number of other importan aircrafts. There are a number of permanent exhibits features too. Including the Lt Hampton Gray which is Canada's last aircraft carrier. It includes a reconstruction of the briefing room and complete with original seats too!
There's also a large art gallery with a number of artists work on display and is one of the largest of its kind in the country. Two artists featured is Geoff Bennet and Peter Robichaud which are two local aviation artists.

Take the Angus L. McDonald Bridge to the Dartmouth side of the harbour. Turn right onto Wyse Rd. until you reach Alderney Drive. Turn left onto Alderney Drive. Continue along Alderney Drive until you reach the end of Alderney Drive at the intersection of Portland St. where you will turn right. Follow Portland St. to Pleasant St. Turn right onto Pleasant St. Continue until you reach the traffic lights at the entrance to the base (the first set of traffic lights past the Imperial Dartmouth terminal). Directly to your left will be a large building with a smaller brown building to either side of it, one of which is a chapel. This is the Museum.
