About this activity

Ross House Museum provides a glimpse into the operation of the early postal service in Western Canada, as well as 1850s homestead life in general, and the lives of the Ross family in particular.

It is one of the oldest homes in Winnipeg and served as the first official Post Office in Western Canada. Their carefully restored home now offers visitors a chance to look into the daily life of early Manitoba. There are a number of artifacts on display including letters, teacups, spinning wheels, sickles and more to explore and discover.

There are free historical walking tours every July and the expert guides will lead you into the hidden history of the area as you explore the river lot farm in more detail. You'll get to know about one of the city's founding mothers, learn about the impact the Scottish-Metis family had on the city's development and much more.

Take part in community BBQ's, demonstrations and so much more with the whole family as there's lots to do for all ages.
