Who's ready to CHOO CHOO Choose a great family day out in Canada? You are? Great! Then why not CHOO choose the Railway Museum of British Columbia in Squamish where you have 12 acres of railway fun!

Opened back in 1994, this family friendly experience lets you have a locomotive experience whilst surrounded by cotton woods and cedars. Nice to be out in nature too!

Now, you can see the second largest railway collection in the whole of Canada, and enjoy tours of their vintage locomotives in various stages of restoration. Some of them are as old as the late 1890s!

There are around 90 pieces of heritage railway rolling stock within the collection, in addition to a significant collection of amazing railway related items.

Train travel is such an important part of Canadian history, that here you can really see how it has developed, and really served a number of train journeys across the country.

Of course, when you're in the Railway Museum of British Columbia, you might be wanting to have a ride on an actual train!

They do have tours available around the locomotives, but they also have fun experiences such as the Polar Express tours, where kids can ride a train for real! They also have a mini rail which is open seasonally.

The Railway Museum of BC is in Squamish, a short distance off the Sea-to-Sky Highway #99. See map above. Maximum posted Speed Limit along the way is 80 km/h. Current traffic conditions when driving are available on AM Radio 730 or Mountain FM Radio 107.1

Travelling by car, from the Greater Vancouver Area, access to the Highway #99 is from either the Lions Gate Bridge downtown near Stanley Park, or the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge (2nd narrows) via Hastings Street or Hwy #1.

They have designed the park for the whole family to have fun, and set it among some pretty awesome scenery in the country!

There are plenty of places to eat in the area before you visit that you can fill those train loving tummies!

Keep an eye out on their events calendar as they have events across the year!

Can you have a fun train ride? Yes you can!

There are a number of learning opportunities that work well with school curriculums, including history, science and technology

It never hurts to carry bottled water around with you for the day so you stay hydrated.

If you have special needs, just give them a call to see how they will be able to accommodate you

The mini rail rides are an extra $5 on top of admission
