Quttinirpaaq National Park land is both immense and intimate at the same time. Intricate patterns of rock, frost-cracked ground, willows and wildflowers at your feet extend out from where you stand into endless vistas in the clear, dry air.
There are glistening ice caps and massive glaciers fuel the wild rivers. The park has the highest mountain in eastern North America and a thermal oasis in the Lake Hazen area. It's one of the largest lakes above the Arctic Circle. The wildlife nearby have got so used to humans that do not react too! So you'll be able to admire them whilst they roam around in their natural habitat.
Watch nesting birds fly pole to pole, and see the rae Peary caribou feed on lichens nearby. You may ever spot some artic wolves or huge arctic hare sprint too if you're lucky!
Skiing is also available on the park. However, it's not appropriate for beginners and it's best to visit in April and May when the weather is stable.
