The pronunciation is pay-ee day la sag-win, which means "The Country of the washerwoman", but Le Pays de la Sagouine is an eclectic live theater reproduction of a prohibition-era fishing village inspired by international award winning novelist, Antonine Maillet, and her most celebrated character, La Sagouine.
It's a great way for kid to learn about the Acadian culture through these unique characters, as well as theatre, music, comedy, dance and cuisine on a small island in the town of Bouctouche.
