About this activity

HMCS Sackville is Canada;s oldest warship and was a combat veteran of the Second World War. The warship played a huge role in winning the Battle of the Atlantic and has a huge place in the naval history and heritage.

The ship has been resorted to the natural war configuration and has lots of exhibits and artefacts of those who served at sea during the battle. Experience the daily routine and challenge of young sailors from across the country who braved the storm in the perilous Battle of the Atlantic.

Areas of the ship that are open for the tour include the main gun deck, the wheelhouse, the open bridge, the quarterdeck, tiller flats, engine and boilers rooms, the Captain Cabin and so much more! You go round and explore yourself using the audio portal located throughout the ship, or you can have a guided tour where they'll provide lots of facts and interesting history about the ship as you go round.

The ship is berthed in the Naval Fockyard from November to mid-June each year and then moved to near the Maritime Museum from later June to late October each year. There are regular events all year round, so make sure you keep an eye on their website to see what's happening when you visit.
