Built in 1851, Gibson House was the home of Scottish immigrant David Gibson and his family. He was a land surveyor who helped map early Toronto. Visitors can step back in time and explore this elegant farmhouse. Its serene Georgian-style exterior belies the dramatic lives of the Gibson family.
The home originally served as residence to three generations of Gibson family members. The museum has four period rooms to explore, including the original kitchen which is a time capsule of domestic life back then! Expreience guides tours and hear stories and discover objects of the people who lived and worked there.
There's lots of speciality tours too, as well as general ones. The Gibson Architecture Tour takes a closer look at the homes stylistic features and structure and the The World of Little Women is all about exploring the imagined characters and you'll hear behind the scenes details too.
For schools, you can even bring students for a private tour! There's lots of events happening throughout the year so make sure you check the website before you visit so you know what's happening when and where.
