There is a rich and fascinating history ready to be learnt at Ontario's Garrison Petawawa Military Museum. In fact, it's this museum that is home to not one, not two but THREE main artifact collections that you can see with your very own eyes!
Each of these collections come together to offer all who visit (YOU!) an entertaining and informative overview of not just Garrison Petawawa, but also how it all fits within Canada's Armed Forces today!
A visit to the Garrison Petawawa Military Museum is a great family activity for all ages to enjoy, and take something away from!
First, let's start with the Garrison Petawawa Collection! Here kids can learn all about how Camp Petawawa came to be, and also learn of the many important events that occured there! The whole family can wander through the unit displays, and learn all about their histories AND how they form part of the country's forces today.
Also at the Garrison Petawawa Military Museum you can take a journey through the Canadian Airborne Forces Collection! Kids can spend time learning of the history of parachuting in Canada (sounds so much fun!) AND learn all about an exciting aspect of Canada's Armed Forces!
Did you know that although the Canadian Guards were actually only active from 1953 - 1970 (that fact amazed us too!), they continue to have a rich and prestigious history that includes being the ONLY regiment to call Petawawa their "Home Station" - just one of the many facts you can learn when you visit!
A fascinating day out in history awaits!
Grab something to eat in the area before or after your visit!
They do offer group tours so give them a call to arrange your student visit! It's an invaluable and fascinating history lesson!
