Durham Art Gallery was founded in 1979 and is a regional art gallery serving Grey and Bruce Counties. They want to inxpire, educate and inform people of all ages through contemporary arts from all disciplines, cultural practice and visual and media art through performance too.
They have regular exhibitions heading to the museum so it's best to check out their website before you arrive to ensure you visit when something new is one! Recent exhibitions include the Surham Sesquicentennial, where it provided a peek into the Durham history through artefacts and photographs.
They have also partned with Kegedonce Press and the Owen Sounds and North Grey Union Public Library to present the story of Amik by Sharon King. Amik is a beatuifully illustrated educational book for children ages 3-8 that will warm everyone's heart! There's a QR code that links you to the video recording of the story being read and can also be scanned from the story panels around the gallery and gardens. The story panels can be foundoutside between 12pm and 4pm, Tuesday through to Sunday and you can take your time as you stroll from panel to panel to read the beautiful story.
You'll also find sculptures, paintings, drawings and prints by local artists that will inspire any budding arts and local person to Durham.
