About this activity

We KNOW the name of this family attraction caught your attention! (It certainly did ours!) The Chocolate Museum in New Brunswick gives those sweet toothed children a fun and unique way to learn ALL about candy making in St. Stephen! It's actually a tradition that has lasted over a hundred years, so there is some history there to be learnt too!

The Chocolate Museum used to be the Ganong candy factory, so part of what is available to learn all about is the history of the Ganong family themselves, and of course the magic of chocolate!

Through hands-on exhibits and interactive computer displays, and of course historic artifacts, you can learn all about the history of this very delicious vocation!

How do you think candy might be made now? In big factories and production lines? Sometimes yes. How do you think they made candy over a hundred years ago? Often it was all handmade, and at The Chocolate Factory you can see all of the antique candy making equipment, and even see some of the historic chocolate boxes that they would have been bought in.

What would a chocolate museum be if they didn't actually MAKE chocolate themselves! Lucky for you, they do! At the museum you can see all of the hand-crafted products made right in the spot you are standing, so you can see all of their famous hand dippers at work. It's pretty impressive!

If you want to learn even more about the chocolate history, you can take the Heritage Chocolate Walk, which gives you not only a tour of the museum, but also an outdoor walk around the buildings and homes that were all part of the history of the Ganong family AND the town!

Get those sweet tooth's ready - it's time for the Chocolate Museum!
