About this activity

Are you ready to spend the day surrounded by Toronto's rich history? Great, because we're about to tell you all about the Campbell House Museum!

Did you know that the Campbell House Museum is one of the few surviving examples of Georgian architecture left in the city? Built in 1822 by Chief Justice William Campbell and his wife Hannah, Campbell House also has anothe reason to visit! It's the oldest remaining house from the original site of the Town of York too! Pretty impressive!

The home was designed for comfort for the family, as well as entertaining. The Campbells, at that time, were sociecally and economically established, and their children grown. During your visit you can hear all about the Campbell family and what their lives were like!

Campbell House was also constructed in a style that was in vogue during the late Georgian era known as Palladian architecture. This style was Italian in origin, and also featured elements of classical Greek and Roman architecture. See if you can spot which features of emphasized symmetry this relfects, and which grandiose proportions were created in order exhibit wealth.

Today, Campbell House is now the Campbell House Museum and offers families just like yours the chance to visit and learn all about the Campbell family, ensuring history comes to life through their innovative hands-on approaches to telling these stories whilst preserving important artefacts from Toronto's early heritage.

Don't miss some of the fun events Campbell House Museum host too! They're worth checking out, and something for the whole family!
