Brubacher House is located on the Haldiman Tract, which is the traditional territory of the Attawandaron, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee people. You'll get the chance to explore local history with a tour of the restored 1850's Pennsylvania German Mennonite farmhouse and the beautiful four square garden. Enjoy a nature walk on a nearby trail or experience the digital exhibit Life Upstairs on your visit too.
The Life Upstairs exhibit tells the fascinating history of Brubacher House's live in hosts through personal stories, photos and videos from past and present hosts. You'll get to experience what it really is life to live in a museum! You'll learn firsthand from the tour guides about the life of the family during the mid-nineteenth century, with authenticity at the heart of the tour.
The Four Swuare Garden is the kitchen garden and represents the garden from mid-1800s in Ontario. There's raised beds planted with annual vegetables, border plants, herbs and a large raspberry patch that provides delicious berries in summer and fall. Visitors are welcome to explore the garden on their own, or as part of the guided tour which will include information on gardening practices and folklore too.
Brubacher House is located on Frank Tompa Drive, on the University of Waterloo's North Campus inside the David Johnston Research + Technology Park.
