Black Cultural Centre serves as a museum and a library resource center for the African Nova Scotian community and the Black Canadian community as a whole. The centre is community operated and welcomes all ages, all year round to discover an important part of Nova Scotia's and Canada's diverse history.
Nova Scotia has over 52 historic Black communities that span serveral generations. Many of today's communities can trace their origins to centuries ago. Lots of events take place at the centre including cultural portrayals in the form of music, plays, concerts and lots of educational activities and workshops and guided tours.
The programs of the centre extend beyond the doors to the broader community of Nova Scotia too.
Onsite you'll find an extensive gift shop too. Including books, childrens books, gift ideas such as mugs and clothing items too! Don't forget to head here to pick up a souvenir to remember your visit by and to support the centre itself.
The entre relies on you for donations, so if you do have images, stories and artifacts get in touch with them and they can add them to the collection!
