If you are a fan of "Anne Of Green Gables", then you will just LOVE Avonlea Village! Avonlea was actually the fictitious name the author gave to the area of Cavendish, so the village went ahead and recreated how Avonlea might have looked if it was real!
Some of the buildings are new, but some are truly authentic, giving kids who love the book a chance to re-live their favorite stories, but also history loving kids a chance to explore the past!
Stroll through the eclectic shops. or spend some time in the lovely gardens. There are even food treats for kids to enjoy throughout the day! It's a truly pleasant and fascinating day out!
There are 3 heritage buildings within the complex - a historic church was 1872, a schoolhouse from 1876 (we bet it's quite different than any school the kids are used to today! See what they think!) and a 1906 Minister's residence.
Kids - why don't you use your imagination as you walk around the old buildings? Can you imagine living back in the 1800's? (Don't forget - no internet!)
Avonlea Village really goes all out as a village! There are sweet little gift shops, including the delicious Anne of Green Gables chocolates! There's an art studio, cheeses, ice-cream - and they even hold events and parties throughout the season so make sure you experience at least one!
A very sweet (yes that includes the chocolate!) experience that really captures the essence of the book, and the essence of PEI.
Avonlea Farm is a unique day out with the kids!
