Arnprior and District Museum houses a great collection of artefacts and photographs that you can peruse at your leisure. Come and see the new Kenwood Mills exhibit, the 1928 fire engine, scenes of early 20th century domestic life, Charles Macnamara, our own ever-changing lumber exhibit, Arnprior's war effort and veterns, the museum's tribute to the Laird McNab, an early 19th century canon and a flagstop from nearby Marshall's Bay.
The museum is located under the distinctive clock tower in the heart of downtown Arnprior. The permanent and travlling exhibits are on two floors with the addition of inspiring video exhibits to view as well. The exhibits cover all aspects of life in an Ottawa Valley town.
There are lots of activities too at the museum, including lots of colouring activities for the young ones. There are also virtual exhibits including Arnprior through the eyes of a tourist's postcard and Unravelling the Yarn : the textile industry in Arnprior. One of the permanent exhibits is about trains on the ground floor which played a vital role in our history. Other artifacts include the community's first telephone booth and fashion.
You'l also find a garden along the east side of the building which commemorates the Prince of Wales visit in 1860, so don't forget to wander through and visit.
The distinctive building is at the corner of John and Madawaska Streets with ample free parking just steps from shops and restaurants.
