Are you ready to boldly go, where no man has gone before? Well, actually a LOT of families have gone here before, because it's an incredible experience for kids who want to explore the stars!
Sydney Observatory is an incredible astronomical observatory, as well as a timekeeper, signal stations, and meteorology centre - phew!
It's where new discoveries are made by the astronomers, and families just like you!
There are SO many experiences you can enjoy at Sydney Observatory - just where to start! How about the popular night tours? This is the ultimate way to explore the observatory, and the universe.
It's here you can actually look into the telescopes, and see the rings of Saturn, or the craters on the moon. There are family twilight tours which are geared towards those smaller explorers with bedtimes to keep in mind. There are Dreamtime Astronomy tours, where you can hear about the Indigenous sky stories as told by the Aboriginal Astronomy guides. A great twist!
You can even enjoy afternoon tea once a month, and enjoy high tea as you explore the stars.
Sydney Observatory also has a museum, where you can explore collections that bring the history of space exploration to life, or you can just immerse yourself in the history with the tour of the grounds, learning of the stories in the 90 minute guided tour.
If THAT wasn't enough, there are a range of 3D space theatre productions, plus planetarium dome shows with a variety of space and nature related topics.
So, are you ready to go on a family day out into space, among the stars? We certainly are - so let's explore!
