Old Hobart Town is a unique multi award winning model village depicting life in Hobart as it was in the 1820’s.Individually handcrafted with passion by Andrew and John Quick over a three year period, the authentic model village has been reconstructed from original plans and it gives a unique glimpse into the tough life of Australia’s convict past.

Set in stunning landscaped surroundings in the historic town of Richmond only minutes from Hobart, it forms the perfect stopover for visitors to Port Arthur and Tasmania’s East Coast.

Get a glimpse into the tough life of Australia's convict past that have been reconstructed from the original plans. 

On arriving, you'll get given a map which has been hand-drawn! Use this as your guide as you wander the streets. Everything is well signed so you'll be able to identify the buildingson your map as you walk around. There's also the Hobart Rivulet which is a river that passed under Hobart, so you'll be able to see this in a new light! 

Take in all the changes that have taken place and gain a deeper understanding of Australia's history.

Old Hobart Town is an accredited tourism business and has successfully completed the procedures required to satisfy the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program, and the village has won consecutive Tasmanian Tourism Awards three years running.

Umbrellas being provided to protect against both the intense Tasmanian sun, and the occasional downpour.

School groups welcomed.

Access is wheelchair friendly, and there are translations of the visitor materials in 4 languages
