If you have never experienced that Darwin heat, you will know that one of the things that you will be hoping for is a great way to cool down.
Well, how about a great FREE way to cool down!?
Leanyer Swimming Pool is a great (and free!) option for families wanting to cool down in the Northern Territory heat. Leanyer Swimming Pool have not one, but THREE different water slides. All the same height so kids don’t have to worry about getting wobbly legs, but each slide is a different length, so if you’re a little nervous you can work your way up from the shortest to the longest. Be brave, you can do it!
Kids must be over 1.1m to ride for safety reasons, so just be aware before you head on over to the steps!
(Here’s a hint – they are colour coordinated and the red slide is the longest if you want to just slide straight on in!)
At Leanyer Swimming Pool, there are plenty of things for kids to play on, climb on and slide down. There is even a giant water bucket that dumps it’s load of water all over unsuspecting kids if you’re not careful!
Make sure you are careful with the sun, so take your hat and sunscreen! There are also plenty of shady areas which makes it great to keep popping in and out of the heat when you need.
The main pool has a fun, gently sloping sandy bottom, and lifeguards are on duty when the pools and water playground are open, so parents don’t worry there will always be someone there. It’s always best to stay with the younger kids though!
For the little ones, though there are a number of shaded, shallow pools which cascade into the main pool so they can enjoy their own time safely in shallow waters.
Need to dry off? Just as well they have a large grassed area as well as shady, BBQ facilities where you can bring your own lunch, or enjoy fun drinks and snacks which you can purchase at the kiosk!
Still have extra energy? A basketball court and a skate park await you!
So head on down to Leanyer REcreation Park and have a splash-tastic day!
