Have you ever watched a bird soaring above you and wondered what it must be like? Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk is a pretty great opportunity to get the idea! This unique experience allows families of all ages to actually walk through a rainforest canopy, giving you some incredible sights! It's also the only walk of it's kind in NSW, so take advantage!
The walk is a gentle 1.5km return walk so all ages and fitness levels can experience this amazing adventure. Make your way along a steel walkway which features two gently swaying cantilevered arms, as well as a central tower raised nearly 50m above the forest floor!
You can even get views of the Pacific Ocean!
The whole tour takes about an hour to complete. They are also wheelchair and pram accessible!
They have guided tours if you want to learn a bit of the history of the area, as well as a visitor centre and a cafe for that much needed snack afterwards!
Early risers? Then book the sunrise tour! The light will be incredible as you watch the sun rise over the trees. You will see all the active birds and wildlife too! Are there any species that you have never seen before? That would be pretty cool!
These walks last 3 hours from 6am - 9am, but times vary slightly depending on the year.
Think the walk is all about trees? Think again - they have dinosaurs! The Dinosaur Zoo is a unique show where the audience (you!) can interact with prehistoric Australian dinosaurs a zoo-like environment. Pretty amazing!
There are also other walks to waterfalls you can do, so really, make a day of it and enjoy the beautiful forests of Australia!
If you are heading from Sydney, head down the Grand Pacific Drive and take the Illawarra Hey towards Robertson. Turn left onto Jamberoo Mountain Road, and after 10km turn left at Knights Hill Road.

All water used in the facility is collected from the roof of the visitor centre, so it's recycled! Great idea!
Cafe 106 has tasty gourmet seasonal menus with both indoor and outdoor seating. Make sure you take advantage of those views!
Book in advance in the best weather so you won't be disappointed!
If you want something to remember your adventure by, head to the souvenir shop with gifts of all shapes and sizes can be found!
The main tree top walk and surrounding bush walks are all disabled-accessible. There is also a cart that travels around the site for those needing extra help.
