About this activity

Turn those TVs off, because there is a WHOLE lot of nature waiting for the family to enjoy it!

Howard Springs Nature Park is a place that can give the kids a host of outdoor play areas, as well as fun activities, to spend the day in.

The park is 283ha just a short drive from Darwin, with lots of shady picnic areas that you allow you to enjoy lovely views of the spring-fed waterhole, surrounded by a very cool monsoon forest.

If you have little ones in your family, then head on over to the dedicated toddlers' pool which is perfect for small children in a smaller rock basin adjacent.

Nature is great for walking in, so why not take some time and enjoy the 1.8km of walking track located below the weird, which is suitable for anyone over 3 years. They might need carrying at times, but that's part of the fun!

There are signs along the track which explain some of the different vegetation and animals that you may see in the area. What ones do you think you will spot!

For something different, you can find another short track just off the main road that will take you through amazing dense rainforest, and right to the springs which feed the main pool. Pretty cool stuff!

Howard Springs Nature Park loves having kids learn all about the environment and what they are seeing, so along the way look out for walkway signage that helps you identify the fish which lurk near the surface! You might spot some barramundi, and even turtles!

Relax, or spend the day playing and exploring. At Howard Springs Nature Park it's all up to you!
