About this activity

Looking to experience all that Queensland has to offer without leaving the city? , The David Fleay Wildlife Park is home to a number of native species in naturalistic habitats with many threatened and endangered varieties split into four zones: wetland, rainforest, mangrove and open eucalypt forest. It is an attraction suited to all ages. The nocturnal house offers an insight into the night time lives of animals, with extensive platypuses display.

David Fleay Wildlife Park is a sanctuary for native animals, birds, plants, and pioneering research. Visitors can see eagles, jabirus, owls, cassowaries, kangaroos, koalas, kangaroo rats, lizards, gliders, and butterflies, as well as crocodiles, kangaroo rats, lizards, and butterflies at the park. Platypuses are the only Australian animals at the Gold Coast that you can see in a wildlife park.

Walk through rainforest, bushland, and other Queensland habitats as you meet some of the State’s rarest and most threatened animals at the only wildlife park in the world where you can see the shy bridled nailtail wallaby, thought to be extinct for over 30 years! The highlight of your visit will be the chance to meet and chat with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service rangers who care for the park’s unique wildlife, as well as the Fleays in Flight show, where you can watch the large birds of prey perform amazing aerial acrobatics and speed.

David Fleay’s Wildlife Park, set in the heart of Burleigh Heads, is a small wildlife park that offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about some of Queensland’s natural habitats, such as rainforest and bushland. Visitors may encounter some of the State’s rarest and most endangered wildlife, such as the rare bridled nailtail wallaby, thought to have been extinct for over 30 years. Visitors may chat with and learn from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Rangers, who look after the park's unique and beautiful wildlife. Visitors may be impressed by the Fleays in Flight show, in which the large birds of prey demonstrate their amazing wingspans and speeds.

Their focus here is on protection and conservation so don't expect to cuddle any koalas and whatnot here, visitor impact on the animals is minimised wherever possible. There are plenty of fun educational animal presentations throughout the day and kids also have the opportunity to play Keeper For A Day.
