About this activity

Have you heard of the Somerville Collection? Well kids, if you haven't, the best place to learn ALL about it is at the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum! You see, this collection is the lifetime works of a man named Warren Somerville AM, which includes some of the rarest and finest mineral crystals and fossils from all around the world!

Don't miss the specimens from a number of the most important mines in the world - including Australia! Kids can see formations of rocks and minerals, and learn all about mineral locations, and even crystal structure.

There are even rare formations, and crystallised gold too! The fossil gallery features specimens from all the major stages of life on Earth - which means, yes, dinosaurs!

The Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum displays THREE dinosaurs, including the T-Rex skeleton. The collection also includes the LARGEST collection of fossils in Amber in the entire country, as well as fossilised dinosaur eggs and even fossils of some of the early forms of life.

There are temporary exhibits within the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum too, so there is always something fun to explore next time you visit!

Don't miss the FUN events that the museum feature throughout the year too, including Dinosaur Day and Torch Light Tours.

It really is great family fun!

Kids - say hi to the T-Rex for us - ROAR!!
