Where are we going today?
We LOVE a great outdoor adventure at Family Days Out, and at Lake Washoe State Park - you can have your very own!
This piece of natural paradise is located right in the heart of the beautiful Washoe Valley - between Reno and Carson City. You can sit back and enjoy the lakeside views as you look out at the Sierra Nevada and Carson Range. Pretty impressive!
You won't be short of places to explore, because Washoe Lake State Park has over 8,000 acres of land and water ready for kids of all ages to enjoy!
Named after the Washoe Indians - the original inhabitants of the area, it's a beautiful place to bring the family. The park is teeming with wildlife, including deer, hawks, coyotes, and eagles, and there are a ton of bird species including pelicans to enjoy!
Sand dunes anyone? Yep! The sand dunes of Lake Washoe were formed very very slowly over thousands of years. Make sure you tread lightly though and stay on the pathways, as they are very delicate!
For those day-use visitors, the areas are Little Washoe, the Wetlands, South Beach, North Ramp and Main Entrance. There are equestrian facilities, as well a great boat launching ramps and many hiking trails. The lake is perfect for those water-sports including jet skiing, water skiing and windsurfing, and there are certainly plenty of places to go hiking!
So grab those hats and sunglasses, swimmers, bring a good book and great running shoes because there is a whole 8,000 acres for you to explore! Go Nevada!

The Park is nice,,,but VERY EXPENSIVE !!!!
We paid 34 $ !!!!!! NO SERVICE, RESTROOM AND SHOWER WAS CLOSED, NO POWER, NOTHING!!!!
Earlier, we are always happy to run in the state parks but now
What is the difference if I towing the vehicle, on the drive space and dependent or if I drive without towing space on the ??? There are 2 vehicles.
For demand double the price and offer nothing is pure simply rip off !!!!
We travel a lot but this is really awesome.
Since there is only one thing for us ...... no state parks hit more.

Nice park located in the rural area. Coyotes and wildlife in abundance. It will keep a dog busy. Tent sites are situated within sage brush. There are covered shelters for picnic tables at each site.Only issues were showers were only located in the building closest to the lake. Closest Water supply hooked up to a site so a little walk to get water (300 ft). Price was right at $17 per day.
