My friend and I went to see the movie "Before I Go to Sleep" today (11/1/14) at Dole Theatre (Honolulu, Hawaii). We went to the 11:50 am screening and arrived in the theater at 11:40 am. We immediately noticed that the theater was very hot, as if the air conditioning was not working. We were not overly surprised because this has happened to us at this theater before. I immediately notified one of their staff and asked them to look into this. After 15 minutes passed, we had still not seen a staff come into the theater to check the air conditioning...Read More

I prefer Regal Dole Theater than Consolidated Ward because it has IMAX and uses Sony Digital projectors. It also show wonderful Opera, Ballet and Plays. I don't like Kahala Theater which show opera/ballet also but on a small screen and no stadium seats.

Bathrooms are filthy 100% of the time. Disgusting. The IMAX at the Dole Cannery is definitely 'Fake'. It uses the screen with the million tiny holes in it (go ahead and take a look!), but the screen is no bigger than the one you would be watching if you paid the normal price. That a side, this theater is so-so. Its clean but old. The whole experience feels like visiting an abandoned warehouse. There is no place to have dinner or drinks without getting back in your car. On the plus side, lots of screens and Dole is great about early morning and late...Read More

Supposeably my husband said this has more variety of food than Ward Theaters. Besides that we always take my daughter bowling which is so convenient, because the ticket line is right there. Also if you go to the top of the parking lot you get a great view ♥!!!

After 15 minutes passed, we had still not seen a staff come into the theater to check the air conditioning (you can commonly see staff come in during the course of movies to check the thermostat in the theaters). I left the movie, which had now started, and asked the same staff member if someone was going to check on why the air conditioning was not on and he said he had notified his manager. I returned to the theater where several customers were now fanning themselves because the theater was so warm. We continued to watch the movie in the warm theater and did not see a staff come into the theater until 45 minutes into the movie. At approximately 12:50 pm, I felt the air conditioning finally turn on. I knew it turned on because we were sitting in the top row of the theater, directly under one of the air conditioning vents. I fully expected that when we left the theater that there would be a manager or staff member at the door apologizing for the warm condition of the theater for the majority of the movie, but this did not happen. I am very disappointed that nothing was done to make the customers in the theater feel more comfortable and that the theater also did not do anything to apologize to these patrons. We paid good money to watch a movie and were very uncomfortable for the majority of the movie (I actually took my shirt off at one point because I was so hot I was sweating). We have been loyal customers of Dole Theater for many years, but we are considering switching and going to another theater closer to home because of this situation. It was very disappointing and a waste of good money.
