Where are we going today?

Situated on the meandering Turtle River, Turtle River State Park is located in a beautiful wooded valley. Constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the park offers year-round recreational activities, including camping, picnicking, fishing and trails for hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing. Rustic group cabins can also be rented. The Turtle River is stocked with rainbow trout, and youngsters can borrow fishing gear at the park office.

Amazing camp ground and activity center. I once spent a whole school day there.

With the fear of too many people reading this, and therefore heading to the park, I am hesitant to write how fabulous this place is. Each year I look forward to the May long weekend, because Turtle River is always the first destination with our camper.

The sites are kept clean, very tidy. Nature is left to grow in abundance, yet the pathways lead to all of its glory. The evening strolls through the campgrounds, and the friendly nods from fellow campers, creates a secure feeling, not forgetting the children's distant laughter around a blazing campfire.
