Where are we going today?

History is fascinating, but it also can be FUN – especially if kids get to experience something that was influential in changing the course of the world. The Santa Maria might be one of THE most important places to visit when it comes to American history – do you know why?

Yep! Back in 1492 the world changed forever when Christopher Columbus  set sail, trying to get that coveted direct trade route to the Indies.   And of course to sail, you need a boat, and it just so happens that Mr. Columbus used The Santa Maria.

That 98 foot wooden ship, now 500 years on after that influential day, now has the world’s most authentic replica created so kids can learn all about the journey, the man, and what it meant to America.

There are fun guided tours which dramatize the determination and bravery that the explorers would have had to undergo such a mission. Kids, do you think that YOU could have taken on such a journey – it’s pretty impressive!

There are also fascinating displays which show the impact that the meeting of these two worlds had.

Ever wanted to know what it was like to actually SLEEP on such a ship? Now you can! The Santa Maria offer a super fun overnight program where you can explore life in the 15th century.

How exciting!

So get ready to sail those seven seas because there is fascinating history to explore, and experiences to be had on The Santa Maria – let’s do sail the seven seas!
