Where are we going today?

The Little Buckeye Children’s Museum celebrates self-directed play through creative, open-ended learning environments that engage kids and adults, spark imagination, and promote discovery.

The Imagination Station includes an upscale version of grandmother’s closet and a stage for performances. Dozens of dress-up costumes will be available for children of all sizes, along musical instruments, props, and mirrors for make believe.

They also feature well equipped roleplay studios for a Bank, Market and Vets, as the Super Scientists’ Laboratory! The room’s design fosters creativity but offers no ingredients to support explosions, noxious gases or chemical burns! Safe imaginative play for all.

The Insectigations room will be filled with several hundred specimens of the ugliest, dirtest, scariest six-legged creatures! Living specimens include Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches and Mealworms! Children will have the opportunity to observe and play with plastic replicas of insects in order to learn about their body parts.

Plus check out Water Table World, Dissasembly Lab and the Fun Forest! A very full day's worth.

We bought a family membership this year and it has proven to be a great investment. our two kids, ages 3 + 4, ask to go to LBCM nearly every weekend. It's a fun place for kids to learn, play and explore.

It's a very nice attempt at being a children's museum as others across the states and truly is a gem for Richland County however I cannot justify paying the same admission price for myself as I am paying for the little ones. We are a very active family and are constantly looking for great things to do. We live in Columbus and it makes a nice day to visit the museum, carousel, have lunch and treat the kids to cookies all at local businesses within a block or two of each other. Normally though we'll send only one adult in to the museum because of the admission cost. There are plenty of play cafes here in Columbus, none of which charge for the adult to attend, and actually encourage the parent to unwind and take some time to themselves. I just think it's a little outrageous to pay $14 to take one child in plus myself when I obviously have to be there and am the one doing all the cleaning up after the child. Don't get me wrong though, we continue to visit and can spend a good hour or so entertained here- I just don't think it's choice.
