Where are we going today?

Did you think you had to be on the plains of Africa to enjoy a safari? Certainly not at The Lazy 5 Ranch in North Carolina!

This 3.5 mile experience gives you the chance to take part in your own drive through safari, just like you would on those great plains! On your journey, you will pass over 750 animals, all representing six continents from across the globe. Now that is impressive!

Kids will love having those face to face encounters with exotic animals. Have you ever seen an ostrich run, or even have ever seen a Rhea? It's a great way to not only see animals that you may never encounter, but it's a great way for kids to learn about conservation.

The Lazy 5 Ranch helps in the recovery of a number of endangered species, including the Grevy Zebra and the Ring-tailed Lemur, so kids can hear all their stories during their time there!

Your time at the Lazy 5 Ranch can either be from the safety of your own car, of you can even book ahead and see the animals from a horse drawn wagon - what an unusual way to see the animals!

Across the year, the ranch becomes more than just a safari. They hold fun events that are perfect for the family, and worth putting in your diary. The Easter Eggstravaganza is always fun for those scavenger hunts, and come fall it's the perfect time to enjoy those fall colors!

Pick up a pumpkin from the patch, or play in the corn box!

You can't go past Christmas for some festival fun at the ranch, with nativities and carols across the event.

Animals, family fun, once in a lifetime encounters and throw in a bit of education, and you get your experience at The Lazy 5 Ranch.

Don't forget your camera!

We opted to ride the wagon rather than take our car. All in all it felt a little rushed I guess because someone else was driving. The animals were a trip coming up for their feed and I loved the interaction with them. Wish it could have been a bit longer. Not badly priced either.

We visited yesterday and absolutely loved this farm! I just saw a horrible article from PETA saying animals are neglected here. I did not see ONE unhappy critter! They all look happy and healthy and so fortunate to have an enormous ranch to roam on! Far better than any tiny enclosure in a zoo. The owners are doing a great job keeping so many animals in fine shape! Must be a LOT of work! Thanks for giving the community a way to get so close to these beautiful animals.

AWESOME experience! The animals were great, and so were the staff. The feed you get for $3 is definitely worth it, as it brings all the animals to you, especially the giraffes. Only complaint is that you have to 'make a reservation' to do the wagon ride. It doesn't even say that anywhere. Still 5 stars and will be back again! (With a wagon ride reservation)

The wagon ride was wonderful! It was our driver's first time driving and he did a great job. He made us laugh several times. The animals were feisty today and the class loved it!! We had a delightful field trip and will definitely come back again.

I took my son and daughter. I drove through, we didn't ride the wagon. We had a Blast! (we didn't read the flyer prior to entering the park..) The Zebra's head was in the truck on my daughter's lap! to get the food.. :P We were laughing so hard, I almost pee'd my pants!
We waited on the Buffalo crossing, they checked us out, we checked them out. the Rhino was pretty easy going..as you would expect a Rhino, to be..We enjoyed each others company, he/she came out and hung out with us for a little bit. We arrived at the Giraffe's enclosure while...Read More

We waited on the Buffalo crossing, they checked us out, we checked them out. the Rhino was pretty easy going..as you would expect a Rhino, to be..We enjoyed each others company, he/she came out and hung out with us for a little bit. We arrived at the Giraffe's enclosure while the Wagon was there, So they were busy with that. But, one did come over and say hi! food??? lol We couldn't reach him, so, we didn't get to feed them. We saw all kinds of animals along the way. The Llama were hysterical! they were ignoring us, for some reason, the kids are asking me to do some thing. Mom to the rescue! I open my window, sit in the window and holler 'llama, llama, llama' !!! My children are cheering MOM!!! the llamas come running! Who knew I could be a llama caller..lol We feed the llamas all the leftover food we had! then we were out the gate...Then as we were eating I read the documentation....Well, were no to have fed the Zebra....oops!!!
Well, my kids are 25 and 19 now....they still bring up the day we went to the Lazy 5 Ranch.
Thank you for being a great memory in our family lifre.
