The Chrysler Museum of Art

Although renovations have closed the main building until Spring 2014, the Glass Studio and Historic Houses remain open.

The fascinating Glass Studio offers free daily demonstrations in glass work by invited artists at noon every Wednesday through Sunday. The detailed work is captured on closed circuit television and shown on large screens behind so wherever you are in the room you can still see everything.

The Norfolk History Museum within Willoughby-Baylor House has taken on the role of temporary art gallery during the renovations with over 50 major works to be currently found here.

Plus the Moses Myers House offers a 19th century insight and experience.

If you haven't visited the Chrysler Museum of Art since it re-opened in the Spring of 2014 you are missing a wonderful experience. The new design for the museum is first of all beautifully lighted. The displays allow you to get much closer to the art and artifacts and the composition of art and artifacts is exemplary. I loved the use of juxtaposition between the centuries old pieces and more recent representations of a similar nature. All in all a wonderful place to spend your time absorbing beauty.

Great museum, free of charge, much bigger than expected. I had to sit down several times because there's so much area to cover & the legs were giving out on me! There's a gift shop inside with great things to purchase but the glass was much more pricey than I anticipated. I really wanted a glass momento of my visit...maybe next time. Thank you Chrysler museum!

I liked the exhibition quite much but I could not get rid of the thought some of the pieces were ill presented. Great works were thrown in dark corners. Not acceptable in general!
