Where are we going today?

Butterflies are beautiful creatures! Their story is pretty amazing too, and at The Butterfly Zoo children can learn all about their transformation into the beautiful and colorful butterflies that you see in front of you!

The Butterfly Zoo has been giving families magical experiences for over 20 years - they are actually the 3rd oldest continuously operated live butterfly exhibit in the entire USA! That's quite an achievement!

This summer experience gives those animal lovers in the family to get up close to some of the most beautiful species of butterfly you might ever see! The giant green birdwing butterflies from New Guinea might come and say hi, or you might walk past The Zebras from Costa Rica. Don't forget your camera because there will be a lot of photo opportunities!

The Butterfly Zoo has it's live tropical exhibit in a huge greenhouse, so the butterflies will put on their aerial show happily when you visit, because they will be comfortable! Inside of the greenhouse you will find hundreds of beautiful nectar plants - some flowering - which are there for the butterflies meals!

The butterflies come from all over the world - from Africa, South America, and even as far as the South Pacific.

Take your time, and roam freely around the greenhouse to explore where you want to explore. There are a number of guides that can point out various aspects of the butterflies - including a butterfly laying an egg if you're lucky! Quite a sight!

So if you LOVE nature, and botany, and these beautiful colorful creatures, the Butterfly Zoo might just be the place for your next day out together!

Wonderful day out. The people have a real passion for the otters. After the talk they were more than happy to just sit with us and talk about the otters. The talk was so good we went back for the next one. Butterflies were beautiful and very relaxing, plenty of seats to sit and let the butterflies come to you. Definitely recomend for the whole familiy

A wonderful day out for people of all ages. We marveled at the variety of butterflies, friendly enough to come and land on an outstretched hand. And the otters were fantastic. We were there during feeding time, so got to hear all about the different otters they had there from the very knowledgeable staff. Very playful and beautiful creatures.

Best bit? Toss up between the fantastic, knowledgable staff and the fact that one can get really close to the otters- no big fences or anything!

    Great stuff, highly recommend!
