Whenever you visit a new city, or perhaps even live in a city, you might not really think about how that city came to be as it is today. Well, in Tarpon Springs, you are in luck because the Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum was created to allow families to explore that very thing!
The Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum is located in Craig Park, right on the beautiful Spring Bayou.
Once a library, this museum now explores the development of Tarpon Springs itself - right back from prehistoric times, through to WWII. Now, that's quite a lot of history!
It's great for kids to explore as they can actually see what the city used to be like through vintage photography - part of it's own exhibit of the city. There is also a native American presentation, and a film (16 minutes in length) that can let you explore other areas of the city's history.
Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum has a fascinating exhibit also on the Greek Community. This permanent exhibition explores the culture and history of the Greek community, including religion, celebrations, and traditions.

The exhibit also feature music and dance too.
A great visual exhibit for the family to check out is the ecology wing, with large scale murals that depict the state's vivid history. Each mural contains a number of symbolic elements that showcase the events that shaped the history of Florida from the 16th century to present day

Schools are welcome to group rates! Why not give the students and education outside the classroom!
You will be able to pick something healthy up, or bring your own and enjoy it as a picnic in a nearby park!
