It's worth noting that if you use internet directions through map programs you might get a route an hour out of the way!
From Memphis, take the I-55 N to Hwy 63 N towards Hardy. Turn left at Hwy 62 towards Ash Flat (about 9 miles) then you will pass a Super Walmart on the right. Stay in the right lane and remain on Hwy 62. At the junction of Hwy 289 N turn right, and Saddle is 6 miles ahead.
Where are we going today?
If you really want to just turn off from the modern world and come and enjoy nature, make sure you keep reading! Southfork Resort is located on the Southfork River in Arkansas, and it's ALL nature!
They are known as "The Family Place", and do their best to make families just like yours feel right at home.
For camping, they do accept reservations but also operate on a first come first served basis - the shady camping spots right on the river are always the most popular!
Every camp site has it's own fire pit and picnic table, so get those burgers and s'mores out and have a feast right under the start! They also offer electric sites for those those need it, but still you get river views. Hot showers and the bathhouse are ready and waiting for you too!
RV’s are more than welcome too.
If you don't fancy getting the RV or tents out, Southfork Resort have lovely cabins you can stay in instead! All of the cabins have tableware and cookware in the kitchens, as well as over 150 channels on satellite TV (although don't forget you are right on the lake where the sun is shining!), as well as heating and AC, fans, fridges, and wood decks with river views! Sorted!
And of course, there's the river itself! Why not take the family out on one of the 1,2 & 3 trips which are perfect for intermediate to advanced rafters. Beginner? don't worry! They have class 1 & 2 trips for you with several gravel bars and islands perfect for stopping and swimming along your journey.
Fishing is also a popular pastime, and Southfork Resort also cater for many fishing trips, so make sure you don't miss out if love fishing!
So...ready to turn off the TV and get out into the stunning wilderness of Arkansas and Southfork Resort? We certainly are!
What is there to do?
There is some major fun on the rivers to be had! canoe trips and fishing are popular, as well as the famous rapids rides! The resort offer canoe, raft, kayak and tube rentals with shuttle service.
How much does it cost?
- Full hook up RV's are $8.50 per night/site for just electric. $11 for electric and water. / day
- Tents $31 for the family per site, or $8.50 per person/night (under 5 free) / day
Facilities on site
There are 8 cabins, as well as 22 camping sites with a campers bathhouse. RVs are more than welcome! There is an on site store with snacks, tackle, hats and other bits and pieces, as well as 1/4 mile long river front lawn where you can just enjoy swimming and picnicking!

The on site store sells most provisions. Also - there is fishing! Get out there and see what you can catch! .
Any Top Tips?
They do welcome pets but they must be pre-approved, so call to check if your pet will be allowed. Don't just show up! .
