Where are we going today?

Michigan has some amazing beaches, so why not spend a day at one!

Silver Beach County Park can be found at the mouth of the St. Joseph River, and has a beautiful wide beach on Lake Michigan, as well as public access to the South Pier.

Grab those swimming trunks - it's time to make a SPLASH!

Silver Beach Country Park is a favorite destination for beach lovers as well as families who just love to stroll along the water, because there is plenty to do other than swim.

However - swimming is SO much fun so let's start with that! Did you know that of the park's 2,450ft of Lake Michigan coast, there is 1,600 ft dedicated for public swimming during summer? Plenty of space to accommodate ALL the families who want to visit!

Grab those inner tubes and inflatable water mattresses, and sense of fun, and just relax out in the sun!

Parents, there is no need to worry because there are lifeguards on duty at certain times, and you'll know when they are because water safety flags will be posted at each Lifeguard tower.

In addition to swimming, active kids can enjoy some beach volleyball, or at the end of a long day the whole family can enjoy a beautiful sunset stroll.

Those active kids will love the playground structures - not one, but THREE! One of the playgrounds are just for kids aged 2 to 5, and one is for 5 to 12 years, so you can make sure your children are playing on the ones best suited to them.

The red and blue boat play structure is located on a rubber-like cushioning surface that is wheelchair accessible. Here children can imagine themselves a part of a ship's crew as they communicate through nautical talking and listening tubes!

Shade shelters and seating are located for parents near all three structures, so it really can be a family experience!

Beach fun in Michigan is waiting for you, so let's all go make that splash!

Doing our bit

During the summer months, they ensure a lifeguard is on duty from 11am to 6:30pm. There are 3 color coded flags that let you know how safe it is to swim. Pretty great!.

Need a little extra help?

The park offer beach wheelchairs at no charge for those who need it. You just need to leave ID as deposit..

I often stop here on my way from Mid Michigan to Chicago. Only 6 miles off 94 it is a perfect stop to spot.

Parking at the beach is $8 for a day but if you park up on the bluff, close to the stores there are a few free lots and quite a few 2 hr free parking spots!!

There is a beautiful beach to enjoy, with great views of the light house and pier. The beach has volleyball courts, and a spot that rents kayaks and stand up paddle boards. The beach is right down town so its close to a lot of cute restaurants, a huge fountain for children and many...Read More

A beautiful place to watch the sunset. Took my 8 year old daughter up for a quick getaway. She played at the playground there and then splashed in the water for a while before leaving. Peaceful, clean and gorgeous.

Such a cute relaxed city, definitely recommended!!
