Where are we going today?

Sacramento Children’s Museum includes several exciting interactive areas for exploring, playing, and learning. In “Raceways”, visitors will have a ball playing with velocity, gravity, motion, friction, and acceleration. In “Waterways”, children experiment with the flow of water, race boats, and create whirlpools. In “Airways”, children and adults interact and explore how various objects are affected by air currents. “My Neighborhood” encourages role playing and celebrating unique family traditions and awareness, “Studio of the Arts” features hands on art projects and stimulates creativity.

In “Solar Car Racers”, visitors will learn important principles such as teamwork, cooperation, and the amazing science behind solar energy. Our toddler-focused exhibit, “Baby Bloomers” provides an environment to enjoy safe exploration. Our newest addition, and outdoor Community Garden, is a space where visitors can participate in seasonal programming to teach children where fruits and vegetables come from and why eating healthy is important

We have now been to the museum several times between the sneak peak days and now the regular open to the public days. WOW this place is awesome. It was extremely busy this weekend but still plenty of room to sit down and enjoy the kids playing. They have a great variety of activities. My kids (7 and 8 years old) just love this place. It really has taken the best of some of the huge museums and packed it into a space that reminds me of the Berkeley Habitot in size. However, the activities are first class professional grade exhibits. The main...Read More

People say that miracles are out there, you just have to open your eyes to see them. Well, sometimes, a little thought is required as well. The Sacramento Children's Museum is a miracle. Born at a time of utter chaos and crisis in the financial world, a deep recession and a collapse of the Sacramento area real estate economy (that still persists), this museum has come to life and provided wonderful, hands on exhibits that are fun and teach young children about their world on their level. I saw the run-down shell that the space was only a year...Read More

It is great for the toddler through 1st grade ages. It's small and feels safe in that the children can't get lost. We had a nice afternoon. My kids are a little too old so we will probably not go again but if they were preschoolers I would have a membership to get me through the rainy days of winter. This is not worth a long drive like San Jose's children's museum, but is great for locals and a great addition to our area.

I saw the run-down shell that the space was only a year ago, and to come back last week and see the vibrant environment that it has become was amazing. I had to keep myself from bumping kids aside to try out some of the exhibits myself - just for fun. This is a great start for a children's museum, and, with an improved economy and plan for future fundraising drives, has the ability to be expanded to where other, more established children's museums have grown to be. Congratulations and thank you to the founders and founding families for six years of hard work and self-less dedication to make this happen for the greater Sacramento community. Don't let the haters and their snide comments detract YOU from going to see this new community treasure.
