We just LOVE nature, and we hope you do too, because the Rusk Ranch Nature Center in Oregon is ALL about nature, fun, and kids having a beautiful experience!

The Rusk Ranch Nature Center is there to awaken the adventure and discovery in kids of all ages, and to let them be marvelled by the wonders of the natural world.

Nestled in the beautiful Illinois Valley of Southern Oregon, there is no better place to go exploring all the great attractions within this center! Kids can families can learn all about the environment in this interactive experience! You can learn all about nature, AND get out there and enjoy the recreational activities too!

The ranch has the popular Butterfly Pavilion, where kids can learn all about the entire life cycle of the butterfly. The pavilion uses native species to give kids that learning experience, and see all those beautiful colorful creatures flying around!

There is a beautiful Hummingbird Garden where you can spot those amazingly fast winged creatures, and nature discovery play where it's all about getting out there and enjoying the great outdoors! The Discovery Playground is where kids can play in Hobbit Hill, or enjoy some fun water play - perfect for those warmer days.

Rusk Ranch Nature Center also has an outdoor music area! How amazing is that!

Butterfly nectar plants and milkweed plants and seeds are for sale for your home butterfly garden too!

Great outdoor fun for the whole family in Oregon, with wildlife and adventure too!

Directions

The Rusk Ranch Nature Center and Butterfly Pavilion are conveniently located along the scenic Redwood Hwy 199 on the way to the Oregon Caves National Monument or to the coast. Turn right off of Hwy 199 after proceeding 1 mile south of Cave Junction.

Rusk Ranch Nature Center FAQ’s

Summers are typically hot and dry so be sure to wear a hat and sunscreen and if you plan to wade in the river, bring a towel. Inside the Butterfly Pavilion, please be aware of where you step since butterflies often hang out on the ground!

Visit the Nature Gallery, where you'll find works by local artists and nature-based educational items!

The Rusk Ranch Nature Center and Butterfly Pavilion are available for field-trips year-round. School groups are free so it makes sense to head on down there!

There are many restaurants located in Cave Junction, just 1 mile away, so pick up something in the area before or after your visit!

Speak to staff about the accessibility of the grounds!

You can pick up a membership for the season which, if you visit a couple of times, pays for itself straight away!
