Where are we going today?

Free flowing waterfalls through rock-strewn clefts in an ancient hillside are the highlight of Ricketts Glen State Park in Pennsylvania, and they are certainly worth the adventure!

Ricketts Glen State Park allows you to hike the Falls Trail System, where you can explore the glens. It's here you will find those beautiful waterfalls, with the highest of the 22 that have names being the 94ft Ganoga Falls. Amazing!

Wildlife will surround you during your state park adventure, and it's also one of the most scenic areas in the entire state comprising of over 13,000 acres.

There are a host of activities to enjoy during your time at Ricketts Glen State Park too, so it's so much more than just those incredible waterfalls.

Those active families will love the 26 miles of trails, from easy to very steep. Each trail is marked and has it's own difficulty rating so you can easily gauge what is best for your family before you start.

If you love horses, there is a 12.5 mile loop trails for you with amazing sights along the way, including the old railroad grades and lakes. You must have your own horse as you can't rent them in the park.

Lake Jean is 245 acres of fishing opportunities for those who love to just relax with their rod and enjoy nature at it's very best, or you can take out your boar into the lake too. During summer you can rent them.

The seasonal beach too is great fun for kids to enjoy swimming! There is also 600ft of beach front where kids can play in the sun and have a great time!

Don't let the seasons put you off either, because Ricketts Glen State Park has cross country skiing, ice fishing and snowmobiling in those colder months.

Didn't we tell you that the waterfalls were only the tip of the iceberg?

This is a great hiking adventure for everyone of all ages. Dress appropriately and plan to be there for at least 4 hours as it's a long exploration. It would help if you're in decent shape if you'd like to see all the falls. Very enjoyable...but it is a long day:)

Stayed in a state park cabin for the first time after staying in the camp ground / tent camping many times. Loved it... cabin experience was better than tent camping, but I did miss the beauty / closeness to the outdoors (enjoyed running water, a shower and bed...). The hiking was amazing as always... 20+ waterfalls on the ~ 7 mile Falls Trail. If you have not been here, I highly recommend it. Take a day trip... you'll be back!

Amazingly beautiful. Great hike. Clean. True gem of a park.

Its a little crowded, but we went on Fourth of July weekend. Trails are very well maintained. So while terrain was moderately challenging, it requires no real skills. Great for adventuresome kids. Rangers patrolled to make sure people were staying on trail. I get it, but most of the fun is exploring off trail, in the falls, in the water. I wouldn't call it a "disney" trail, but its not "off the beaten path." Its smack in the middle. Can do the falls trail in 3-5 hours. We started at top,...Read More

Had a great time at the waterfalls, a great place for a family or even a day outing with a girlfriend or something, that's what I did. Some Jews gave me a hard time when I gave a salute that looked kind of like a nazi thing to my girlfriend for a picture until I explained I was just hamming for the camera. Other than that great time

We started at top, although probably not a bad idea to start at bottom.

After the hike, hit the lake and relax. Truly a gem of a park. Would go there again in a second. Perfect for kids (~7yo+).
