We hiked the Cedar Falls Trail and the Bear Cave Trail. The trees were turning, and the sites were awesome! The falls are a little slow this time of year. We hope to return in the spring!

This is the most magical and beautiful place I have found in Arkansas. We try to go yearly and we have cabin reservations for 2015. If this is not on your bucket list, it should be!

We have camped here twice and both times were different and very enjoyable. Weather plays a role when you are camping and this park allows for choices for dealing with rain, sun, cool, wet, dry, warm. Many hikes in the park are what we liked plus in the spring there were birds to liven up the campsite.

Would not return, except on day trips. PROS: The cabins were nice in size and amenities, with fully equipped kitchen (including pots, pans, dish soap, towels, and basically everything you have at home. The views are nice, and trails easily marked (except the Cedar Falls overlook trail). CONS: The people and policies took more out of my patience and bank account than originally stated. Stayed 2 nights in cabin 17, and originally priced about 220 for the stay. Except, they didn’t tell my family they’d tack on the $40 pet deposit upon check-in even if you don’t bring a pet. 2 members of my family are allergic to dog, and they put us in the pet friendly one and wouldn’t move us. Yes all surfaces were wiped down from the dog, but the bed itself (not linens) wreaked of dog, same with the sofa and bathroom. I had to take my medications, and luckily the other family member didn’t. Also, upon check-out we asked for a receipt and were not given one. Not cons, and not pros: Restaurant is pricey, $10 for a simple burger and fries, and everything goes way up from there. Copies of menus are in the cabins, though ours was cut-off showing only the top half of each page. Insulation in the cabin was mediocre at best, at night the cabin got cold even with the two heaters on, as if we put our hand up to the walls, could feel the wind come in. Fireplace was ok in size, only you have to shut one door for the fire to start (smoke stack too small for the fire of that size), and the logs delivered to the cabin each night we were there were wet. All in all, we MIGHT go back in a few years. One of the worst times in a state park in my life.

Awesome park, camp sites and hiking! We go every fall! And we never pack breakfast thanks to Mather Lodge!
